There is a an avalanche of problems being caused by a corrupt and incompetent regime. Costs are high. We have 40 trillion in debt. We are trapped in an impossible war with Iran. We are deporting a productive labor force to meet ridiculous and arbitrary goals established by a white supremacist gnome named Stephen Miller. Millions are thrown off of healthcare. We are using our precious resources to help win an AI race no one asked for, with implications  that are impossible to predict. And did I mention prices are too high?

However, the real issue we must struggle with for the next generation, maybe longer, is a complete deficit of trust.

The degrees of personal enrichment by the Trump family and friends and play-for-pay environment of this administration is irreparably harming our trust in institutions.

The ineffective and complicit congress, destroys our trust in the legislative process. Not to mention the top court of the land trying to skirt their responsibility to the American people.

The treatment of our allies over the last couple of years, have created a trust deficit. Who can trust that America would come to the aid of NATO, Canada, or others?

We attack while in the middle of diplomatic negotiations.  How well you think future negations will go, after setting such a precedent?

The tech companies are not working with each other to devise AI governance, and our government is just simply bought off.  The race is caused by a trust deficit.  Responsibility is deferred by saying there’s nothing we can do.

We have abandoned our ethics and morality and all trust by detaining and deporting people going through the legal process to become a legal resident of this country.

Americans are killed by Federal law enforcement in the street, witnessed and filmed by bystanders, and there’s no transparent investigation. In fact, the institution of homeland security attacked the victims… can we trust these institutions?

Over the last two years some 40 people have been killed in ICE custody, and some 23,000 have been deported to countries they are not from. Further, tens of thousands of families have been broken. What does that say about who we are as country? Why should anyone trust us?

Trust deficit for sure. Ethical deficit, definitely. Empathy deficit complete.
