From an Article I was reading:

“I think in the last 100,000 years, the moment that [Homo] sapiens started uttering words and attributing meaning to things in terms of words,” Quian Quiroga said. “Then the sapiens started thinking in terms of words instead of pictures. I think that created the big phase transition of intelligence, the fact that we started thinking in terms of words. I think this created concept cells, because once you attribute the word into something then you get completely rid of the details. And that’s exactly what concept cells do.” 

The greatest advancement, as well as,  the most dangerous in humanity is the evolution of concept cells.  The idea that neurons could become concept cells, cementing with minimum energy ideas in the human mind.  We have many million concepts we’ve accumulated in our development from birth, through stories told, though lessons learned, through thoughtful writings and images, and through the communication of the communities we choose, or who choose us.

Some concepts such as love, care, equality and humility are as instantly recognize as is a birth, child, sun and moon.

Just as others are also easily deployed, such as discrimination, hate, illegal-immigrant, and white nationalism, instantly as recognizable as mud, death, gun and flag.

All words cause concept neurons to fire, and place ourselves at the mercy of what we’ve learned of these things through the communities we’ve become.

We are who we choose to be instinctively on the basis of the concepts we have embraced… and also those we’ve overcome.

I choose love, wisdom, freedom, and equality… as my sun, moon and stars!
