Something New

Something New

She gives a sideways glance
As she said, oh yes
To the inquiry of slumbering well

For that was then and this is now
The present and near future matter,
Not the transition to now

For the rest of sleep is a given
Unappreciated when young
But the moment of today is alive

Dreams are something of hope
Not things of memories
Easily forgotten in their purpose

Rather then the purpose of future
With the connections today
With the need of freshness

And so the question seemed
Ridiculous and obvious the
Answer, if one only knew

How to retain the view
And youthful purpose
Of every day is something new.

Two is a graceful number…

The Dance of Two (2)

One is so stiff and very formal
Thinking it is correct and normal

The other is just another one
Along because it might be fun

Together when the music plays
Something stirs in strange ways

And one and one becomes two
But not as simply me and you

It is a wholly a number of its own
With grace of a bow now shown

With not much more than a look
Reading each other like a book

Movement in synchronicity numerical pairing
While other less handsome digits are staring

At the beauty of the melodious dance of two
That’s more than just me plus you

Dragon

Dragon

A dragon can burn down the door
What box would hold, so we could ignore
Grand legends of the distant time
That play in present state of mind

No matter where we go
No matter what we know
The ever present dragon has a say
Over resolutions made today

Over lock and key
So we seek its polite consent
To slumber in quiet content
Behind lock and key

Goodbye to 2020…

So Long Twenty-Twenty

Goodbye challenging and wreck of a year
As you leave, everyone is sure to cheer

Leave and take away your terrible disease
And leave us in peace, breathing without wheeze

Take away your politically ugly useless discourse
And we’ll work our problems without remorse

Take away your economic ruin and hurt
And leave on our backs at least a shirt

Mostly just leave us and never return
Leaving us the hard-lessons we’ve learn

And we will do our most to make twenty-twenty-one
A year of happiness for everyone under the sun

Happy New Year!

Christmas Angel…

Oh
angel
spreading wings
over this Christmas
tree
listen to supplications
of our love and hope for everyone
for this to be the beginning of another
time when we can truly say that we have
become what the child born to all of us would have
us be, in joy and happiness a kinder more forgiving world
so that peace will reign and forever remain like this evergreen
and
this
child
within us!

Personification…

In the poem there is a metaphysical aspect regarding the beginning of everything.  Quantum physics says that matter can spontaneously appear out of a vacuum, as if nothingness is something.  While the duality of the poem seeks to portray a message that is relatable to the desperation of feeling you have nothing but potential… and yet the emptiness of everything as in knowing nothing.  There is a thought of preconception, when we are nothing but potential, but at the end of our life we have everything we will ever have but it will not be enough, because we know nothing or more precisely we understand the emptiness of everything.  In the end all that will matter to us is the people that we’ve loved and who loved us.

Nothing

Nothing screams into the night
Of desire and possibilities
For nothing is potential

While everything cries at night
About missed possibilities
For everything knows nothing

A rewrite of Anonymity…

Anonymity

How can anyone know all you think

If you don’t occasionally make a stink

You think it matters little today

Because they won’t listen anyway

As anonymity of the masses rule

Forwarding some mindless drool

That you know is about winning a game

Without added-value of a label or name

You know you have so much more to add

Than those unthoughtful and persistently mad

While I say, it’s hard to know who you are

If you never reach for your intellectual star

If you never say your piece

Or sign anything more than a lease

When you have an opinion you never share

Even though you privately, desperately care

Don’t allow others to talk for you

It’s time to add something new

For the world could be positively changed

With your words properly arranged

Maybe your thoughts are just what’s needed

And we’d all be better off

if your thoughtful words were heeded

On Optimism …

Optimism

Optimism is hope with probability
It is the fickle winds of fate
Shaped by the preparatory efforts
Of our mind and our soul energy
For the winds blow beyond our knowing
To faraway lands and return
For there is nowhere to go but around
And for this we can always count
On a chance, a choice, and return
In worship of hope shaped by optimism

Boredom

Boredom

If your mind has nothing to do
and no matter if otherwise calm
Then it routs around looking for you
for it is yourself that it seeks as a balm
While time seems so very heavy
the clock moving ever slower
Water imperceptibly rising against a levee
seeking to find its way to a lower
Level of thought, in another place and time
that doesn’t fit with these moments
And yourself you simply cannot find
as relativity warps and foments
A gravity that makes a curve in time and space
when it was then, just before it is
Now in this very same time and place
